Blue Strip Quilt

This quilt top was made way back when I went through my entire blue and green scraps and cut them into strips.  I love this type of quilt the best.  It's amazing how you can have every shade of blue and green, (with some neutrals thrown in) and they all blend together.  This quilt is made from the lighter shades.  I divided the scraps into lights and darks, because it keeps the quilt from looking too busy when you control the values a bit.

It finished up at 46"x60" which is a great size for a toddler, or a small lap quilt!  It is backed in voile, which makes it silky soft.  Batting is Soft and Bright needled poly by Warm Batting company.  You'd never guess it was a poly batting, although it is slightly puffier than a thin cotton batting.  I loved working with it, and it finished up so soft and squishy.

  9. I'm usually pretty color confident, but I'm working on gathering fabrics for a quilt requested by my niece and was worrying how it might turn out. This quilt is just gorgeous and pulls in much of what she wanted. I feel ready to start at it with the rotary blade. So pretty!

  11. I love Soft and Bright batting. I don't usually admit to using it because I live in an area where most quilters are very fervent fans of Warm and Natural and brush aside the idea of any kind of poly battings. The soft blues and prints in your quilt give it a warm soothing look perfect for a toddler.

  12. Another beautiful quilt. I have noticed that voile has become popular lately. I just wondered how well it wears it being a think fabric than regular quilting fabric? Have you been using voile long enough to know?

  14. Lovely! I've never done a low-value only scrap quilt. Gosh, you make it look good! Oh, maybe I did (Whisper baby quilt). Mine didn't turn out so well. I'm pretty sure I need to buy more low value fabrics though. And now I'm curious to try that batting...
